Bob Jackson has been chosen citizen of the yearPark Preparing for Great Easter Egg HuntThe Easter bunny is alive, well, and living in Mactaquac Park. On Saturday, March 30th, at 1:30_p.m. he will gleefully watch as oBIRD TALKBy mid-March the snow buntings will be flocking to go to their breeding grounds in the Arctic. Last year a few late stragglers showed up in their summer plumage of white and black, having lost their winter chestnut coloring. With these stragglers was a dSIGNS OF SPRINGReminiscing with BillReading the Keswick Exchange brought back memories of hauling pulp and logs. The first year I worked across the river hauling pulp, we stayed at Fred Close's, opposite today's Bucket Club. The very first day one of my horses took "blackwater" so my father brought me over another one to use until my sick one got better.Spring is just around the corner! My assurance comes not from the fact that I noticed that someone has been pruning the apple trees down the road, or that a friend told me she scrubbed her sap buckets last weekeend. I know it is nearly here because one of our offspring began frantically writing, crumpling, discarding and rewriting a speech to present at the 4H Club Public Speaking CompetitionSchool Board ChatterThe past month has seen some movement toward kindergarten startup. Information meetings have been held throughout the District to discuss concerns and issues related to the new public kindergarten proposal. JOHN AMBULANCE DIVISIONDistrict 28 Prepares for KindergartenLocal Boy To Have Heart SurgeryOn Mar. 10 Whalen Brewer goes to Halifax to undergo heart surgery. This would not be unusual if Whalen was an adult, but Whalen is only 10 years old. He is going to have a plastic valve replaced in his heart.
