Remodeling Century Homes of Keswick Ridge
We need your help! Do you live in, and/or have new information about one of the historic homes in this book? Here’s a list. and here’s how you can help.
First published in 2003, Century Homes of Keswick Ridge discusses homes built in the 1800s along Crocks Point Road, the Keswick Ridge Road (Route 616), Tripp Settlement Road, McKeen Drive, Mactaquac Heights, Route 615, and Route 105 near the Merrithew-Pickard Cemetery. It presents the history of extant, in situ structures and others that were relocated during the construction of the Mactaquac Dam, as well as ones that unfortunately no longer exist. The book also includes information about, and copies of original land grants and lot numbers, as well as historic and (then) current photographs. It has been reprinted numerous times, and remains one of our best sellers (you can find it, and our other available publications here).
The current reprinting project, with a proposed late 2025 publication date, will include professionally re-photographing the homes, adding new and more detailed information, and digging deeper into both the architecture and history of the area. Envisioning the result as a large format, coffee-table-style publication, the Society is also enlisting both the current home owners and local history enthusiasts to share memories and recent discoveries, and revisiting the original land grants with plans to create both a printed and online map, as well as a drive-through exhibit on our website to accompany the book.
